Textile chemicals are specialized chemicals used to produce, process, and finish fabrics and textiles. They are used to give textiles specific properties, such as durability, colorfastness, water resistance, flame retardancy, and antimicrobial properties.
Some examples of textile chemicals include:
salt, sodium bicarbonate, caustic soda, detergent, bleaching powder, acetic acid, diazonium salts, enzymes, biocides, water repellents, and wrap sizes.
Some types of textile chemicals include:
Pre-treatment chemicals: Used to prepare textile fibers for processing, such as cleaning, desizing, and scouring. Examples include alkalis, detergents, and enzymes.
Finishing agents: Used to strengthen fabrics and make them wrinkle free.
Auxiliary chemicals: Used as a softener in dyeing and finishing processes. For example, esterquats with hydrophilic properties, PEG with high molecular weight, and polyester resin are used that give a touch and antistatic effect when applied to the fabric.
